From Below Pocket is a port of my NES game, From Below (2023), to the Game Boy and Game Boy Color.
It was available in as a physical cart between September 19th, 2023 and October 16th, 2023.
From Below Pocket is built using GBDK-2020 and ZGB, two tool-chains that make it possible to write games for the Game Boy in C. Because of this, I was able to use the exact same core logic from the NES game on the Game Boy, and the two versions play identically. In addition to porting the core gameplay, I also added multiplayer to the Game Boy version. This allows two players to go head to head with the Game Link cable connecting two Game Boy systems.
